Requiring myself to screen each user's very first post has been a god-sent. Most bots seem to be aware of this and just aren't bothering, and the few that do bother are easy to give the boot.
The best thing is that if I don't check this forum for a few days, I don't have to worry about finding it ridden with enlarge yourself spam posts upon my return. There have been 0 spam posts that got to the public forum since I switched this on.
The funny thing is that some bots are trying to post super generic messages with no substance in an attempt to get the first post approved, so they can then spam. If I read something that solely says "hi all, i love this forum. how is you all be doing?", I instantly know that this person either 1) is a bot, 2) thinks this is a dating website or something. Either way, they don't belong.
I've only had a small amount of posts like this, but just as a warning, if you are a new user who is making their first post, be sure to say something constructive, related to Puchisoft in some way. If your post has nothing to distinguish it from a generic bot message that goes to millions of forums, you won't be approved.
I REALLY doubt this will ever be an issue. ^_^
